I like to keep my Start-Bar on the right-hand edge of the
screen. (It is a lot more civilized than the bottom if
you are actually using windows to run a lot of stuff at
once.)
The pop-up messages just float right up off of the screen
and you can't respond to them.
As a work around, I move it down and try to repeat
whatever gave the pop-up. (but I always put it back when
I'm done.)
