I'm trying to free up Ram so I can operate one of my
programs but in order do due so I need to temporarely turn
off some of the programs that run in the background. I
knew how to do this in Windows ME but I don't know how to
do it in Windows 2000 Professional.

Hi Dennis,

I would not recommend randomly stopping background tasks
as you can seriously mess up your session.

Having said that, you can run "taskmgr.exe" from the run
menu or press "CTRL+SHIFT+ESC" to launch the Task
Manager. You can use the task manager to forcible
terminate running programs.

Hope that helps,
