When changing my start-up programs, an access denied error message box
appears stateing that Imaybe I should try logging on as the adminsitrator, but
I am the administrator. This is a new computer and I just strted getting this
message.Incidentally,I had the same problen with my old computer. However,
when I delete the message several times, I am able to proceed to remove or
add strt-up programs. Brand new computer and new professional xp program. What
evil spirits have I inadvertently unleashed? I have tried swearing and
cursing to no avail.(system restore does not do it either).
Appreciate anny ideas.Thanks

Rock,

I'm running McAfee and the xp firewall.

This could be a problem caused by McAfee. Others have reported the same
thing, with the symptom that eventually the changes can be made to stick.
IMHO one should avoid MacAfee and Norton home security products. There are
good, low cost and/or free alternatives that are less resource intensive and
less problematic.

Hi Robert

I would guess, like Rock, it is McAfee. Have a look here (see the posts
from "weidmann" and "trombs"):

Hope this helps.
