Start-up problem

I get a blue screen on startup with the following message "STOP: C000021a
(Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon process system terminated
unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (Ox00000000 Ox 00000000). The
system has been shut down.

Possibly related, when I run a MS-Dos startup floppy I get the message
"There is an error in your CONFIG.SYS file in line 1"

Any help would be infinitely appreciated.
