Start up issue

The problem I am having is slow performance at startup. When I start the
computer everything loads up fast and normal but when you go to click on for
example I.E. to start surfing nothing happens. In fact anything you click on
nothing happens until about 2 minutes have gone by and bam!! Everything that
you clicked on all pops up at once and the computer run normal after that. I
have a clean msconfig start up, no ad ware and no viruses. I have done and
checked everything that I can so now I'm asking for help.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Tim

This is again one of the obvious things, but have you cleaned out the
temporary internet files..is the HD running out of space or something?
If u havent already run a disk cleanup. Next analyze the fragmentation
levels, if they are high, the file access could be slow coz of that,
so run chkdsk and defrag after the clean up. Also could it be coz u
dont have enough RAM? how much are u running on?

Thanks for replying. My Temp folders are empty. The 200 Gig drive is
defragged once a month and was recently defragged. I have 2 Gigs of ram.
I’ve only used have of my hard drive. It's not the obvious. I’v had done
all that, that’s why I'm here to get professional help.

What version of Windows XP are you running? If it's Service Pack 1 or
possibly 1a, then there is a bug that in which a system process hogs 100% of
the CPU time.
