Start outlook very very slowly - Avvio molto lento di Outlook

P

power

Salve. Ho Win2000 Pro installato.
Avete qualche soluzione ?
Grazie.

I'm afraid my Italian is only 'opera Italian' so I hope your English is OK.

First thing to do is to check for the Klez worm. That can make Outlook
Express go slow.

The removal tool will check if the worm is present.

Another possible thing is corruption in Folders.dbx
Corruption is often caused by a feature called Compact in background. You
find this in Outlook Express, Tools, Options, Maintenance.

Switch this off but remember to compact Outlook Express yourself by clicking
on Local Folders then going to File, Folders, Compact All Folders.

One thing that is worth trying is to close Outlook Express and delete
Folders.dbx.

This will cause certain things to happen. I've described the results on this
page

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/evwool/DelFold.htm
Just make sure that your Message Rules don't try to move messages to a
folder that is inside another folder or you could really cause problems. It
is best to delete your message rules and recreate them after you have
deleted Folders dbx.

In case this doesn't help and you want to ask this question in an Outlook
Express newsgroup (microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress
or microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.outlookexpress) here is your
question in English (I hope I get this right).

Hello. I have Win2000 Pro installed.
I noticed that after a while Outlook Express is very slow to start.
After clicking on the icon I have to wait around 3 minutes before I see the
startup screen.

It is the only program which causes this problem.

I installed SP4 but the problem persists.

When I first installed windows 2k there were no problems.

Has anyone got a solution?
