Does anyone know where they hid the Start Menu in VISTA? In XP it used to be in \documents & settings\user name\start menu or something like that.

Right-click on the Start Button and select 'Open'. It will open the folder for the Start Menu.
On my machine it is located in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
