start menu disappeared

I installed IE7 this morning. Now, the"start menu" is not viewable. Tried
numerous times to rectify problem using "task bar and start menu properties"
display. Any ideas?

Does depressing the keyboard Start key (left of Alt key) enable you to
select Conrol Panel, Taskbar and Start Menu? On the Taskbar tab uncheck
Auto-hide the Taskbar.
