Standby problem

My HP Pavillion Tower compu;ter comes out of standby intermittenly in 2
minutes or 10 minutes or 20 minutes or whatever. How can I stop this from
happening and what is causing the problem?

It could be caused by mouse movement if something bumps against it.

May be caused by software running in the background if you mean that
the screen saver is on. In Stand-by mode this should not happen.
