Standby and Shutdown problem

Hi folks: I installed drivers for a Acard SCSI card and I can no longer
put the computer in Standby. The card works and talks to the Acer 610s
scanner but in Device Manager it says there is a problem. Someone
suggested uninstalling the driver and this would reset things. It
didn't. In "Start" "Shutdown Computer" the Standby button is greyed
out. Also, The computer won't shutdown but restarts. Restart
automatically is not checked in "System Failure." Any advice please.
Thanks, Donald
