Standard Colors

Can someone tell me why the “standard†colors in Word 2007 are different from
the standard colors in Word 2003? The blue is not the sharp blue that is in
2003. Other colors also appear different. Why could MS just leave them the
same?

There are very few Microsoft employees who hang out in here and I'd be
willing to bet that even they couldn't answer that question. I actually
prefer the 2007 colors but I'm still using 2003 at work. (But only for a few
more months - yippee! We'll be current for a few months before they release
2010.)

The difference in 'sharpness' is probably attributable to ClearType which is
the default setting for Word 2007. Word 2003's blue colour was RGB 0,0,255.
You can always create a character style in this colour if you prefer the
shade.

I appreciate both replies. It just seems to me that MS could have kept the
same standard and still offered the new schemes. I can recreate the old
colors if I knew the "formulae" other than RGB. I am just getting used to
2007 and now we are talking 2010 (with a whole new set of issues)? I am
getting too old for all of this...

What more than RGB do you need to define the colors? In the More Colors
dialog, on the Custom tab, enter the correct numbers.

I can only say I sympathise. The unexplained changes do rather belie the
"standard" moniker. It isn't difficult to work with, or around, but it does
seem completely unnecessary, and nothing more than change for change's sake
