Stand by mode won't stand up

I can put my computer into stand by mode but it comes on
by itself after several minutes. The time it stays off
will vary and seems to be different every time. How can
I keep my PC in standby until I hit a key or move the
mouse/?????

Try this..Start - Control Panel - Perf/Maint - Power
Options - Power Schemes and change System Standby to
Never or whatever time span you want.
