How do you do a stacked column chart with 2 stacks and 1 line above
the columns plotting values. This line doesn't touch the columns.
This chart has 2 axis.

Thanks for any help on this.

Hello Jay:

Which version of Excel are you using? The answer is different for the
different versions.

Jay,

First make the stacked column chart. Right-click one of the columns of the series you want
to convert to line. Select Chart type in the menu and select Line. You may want to set it
to the other value (Y) axis to get it scaled suitably.

Hi Martin,

I am using 2003. I also meant that there is the horizontal axis and 2
vertical axis.
The stacked columns have 2 stacks and on top a line which doesn't
touch the columns.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Earl,

Thanks! That worked great. I forgot to mention before that the chart I
need is a stacked column chart with 2 y axis.
Do I use the normal stacked column chart? or is there a better chart
for this? I tried using the Line Column on 2 axis chart
but I could not stack those columns.

Thanks for your help,
Jay

Jay,

There are only two y axes. If you're already using them both, then probably the only thing
left is to scale a series to fit an existing axis. I looked through Joh Peltier's site
(he's the charting guru), http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/index.html, but didn't see
anything that might help.
