SQL.Request in Excel 2003

I am having trouble using SQL.request with Excel 2003. Excel does not recognise the function & I can not find an ODBC addin for 2003 (which is what was used pre version 2003. Please help

This add-in is no longer included with Microsoft Excel. You can get it
from Microsoft at
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/xlodbc.aspx

Frank, thanks for this but I have already gone down that path. The addin you mention is for office 2002. if i try to install it I get the error "Microsoft XP or Excel 2002 not found".

which version are you using. Tries this with Excel 2003 and it works
without problems

You have lost me here. the "help-about" menu just says excel 2003 - there is no extra version info
