After checking the ann on alt.comp.freeware, it appears you must remove the
old version first.

old version first.

Woops just realised this was the NG I was replying to \ (was checking

I too had no problem with updating to 3.0, without removing 2.6.1.

Well, for some they prefer not to add hundreds of registry entries
(which is how Spywareblaster works). Others don't mind so much.

I have a feeling that SB 3.0 will not be able to recognize any of the newer
(post .8 ) Firefox builds because the profile location has changed (no more
/phoenix folder).

I'll check the SB forum to see what's going on.

I also wonder in what sense SpywareBlaster can make Firefox more
secure ; I guess Firefox developping community watches carefully all
the security issues of their browser and patches them relatively
quickly whenever such issues are discovered.

It looks like SB 3.0 makes Firefox more secure by blocking tracking/spyware
cookies.

It would make the registry much larger. Some people have big problems
if/when their registry gets too big for their O/S.

Can you use BOTH spywareBlaster ad spybot at the same time?
