Not sure if this is right forum or not but I use XP Home Edition with IE
and the past 10 days I have been hit with a bunch of phony emails. Not
sure if they are being generated by implanted spyware or actually coming
from the web, ie other's PC's.

Listed below are some of the alleged addresses to and from.

The subject line says "Mailing Error" "Email Blocked" "Your Password"
type things.

tks all

Hi,

Some are infected emails trying to con you into opening them, the others are
likely rejects from servers receiving emails using your address as the
return (munged) address. Those are likely the attempt by a virus to infect
other machines, and it picked up and is using your email address to
disguuise itself. The most likely scenario is that someone with your email
address got infected, and when the virus replicated it used your address
from their files - quite common actually. The sad part is that the bounces
will likely never end. The solution there is to either setup filters to
automatically delete the rubbish, or get a new email address.

Scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus to make sure
that your system is clean.
Now adjust your junk filter according to your need.

Might want to use an alternative email address for posting to public
newsgroups, if the one you are using resembles /is your real one

Looks like you made your first post using that address on the 23rd April -
not so long ago

Tks all for superior help. will use filters to rid them I guess.
Changing email address is a lotta work cause I use the original so much
but might have to someday.

keep up the great help here
