I uninstalled WeatherBug yesterday and now I can't get
into some websites. As a matter of fact, I tried to
print out some instructions on this site, and it wouldn't
let me. Keep getting the infamous Error messges.
Probably was that MySearch thing that was hanging up the
uninstall (which I figured a way to get rid of -
supposedly)....

Anyway, I've run Spybot and AdAware, also Hijack this
(but I don't really understand it), WinsockFix, and I
don't know what all else. Am at my wits end. What do I
do now? Download the Weather bug again? UGH Please
help!

Hi Thomas :-)

let me. Keep getting the infamous Error messges.

First off: What version of windows are you running? Did you run an updated
anti-virus? Did you update both SpyBot and AdAware before running them, and
run them in Safe Model? Did you post your HiJackThis log to the appropriate
forums for evaluation and and correction recommendations by the experts
there?

It is possible you have still have malware, spyware or parasites on your
system that can cause this problem. I addition to running your updated
anti-virus program, I suggest that you do the following to be sure none of
these are still present on your system:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30, to allow the experts there to
evaluate your log and advise you of the necessary steps to clean your
system.

HOW TO: Reconfigure Ad-aware for a Full Scan

Follows the instructions for the HiJackThis log carefully. Please *Do Not*
post your log to this newsgroup, but, to the forums as instructed for the
experts to evaluate for you.

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Also, get a copy of WINSOCKFIX available at:

Hope this helps

Thanks - I did almost all that, came here before I even
tried anything. I am not surehow to use Hijack this.

Also used LSPFIX, nothing happened there, either. Still
can't get some pages.

Normally I do not suggest doing a repair, however, if the HiJackThis does
not show any abnormal warez, perhaps the WeatherBug corrupted or deleted
some files that will need to be replaced. You have not mentioned the
version of Windows you using, thus I will provide information for repairing
both IE6 and IE6 XP. Follow all instructions carefully:
