Spybot S&D is slow

I am running Win XP Sp 3. Once a month I also run Spybot Search and Destroy
to protect against malware.

Is there any free program beyond Spybot that does the malware scan a little
faster? Spybot takes about 90 minutes on my computer which is normally very
fast.

Someone here recommended this a couple of days ago. Much faster for me:

Malwarebytes is faster/better. However you can reconfigure Spybot
to use a higher priority for scanning ( Settings, Advanced Mode ) it
will cause the scan to complete in a much quicker mode.
 
Why don't you install Microsoft Security Essentials? You can get rid of all
the other
garbage if you do.
 
That's sort of like asking if a registered sex offender can coach your kid's
little league team. :-) Past experience....

I have a computer from 2003 and Spybot takes around 30 minutes to run
with the current 700k+ things it searches for. You MUST have tons of
stuff running in the background. Boot in Safe Mode and do a scan.

Dis-activate your anti virus before scanning. Be sure to do a clean up
before scanning as well with CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com. It's free.
 
Then, I submit you do not practice safe Hex.
