a friend asked me to throw this question at the group. he is trying to find
a fixture maker for excel. there are 7 teams (a,b,c, etc), they play each
other twice and there are two "byes". man thanks

At any time, there will be six teams playing. Since you only have
teams, how can there be 2 byes?

What he meant is that each team has two byes during the schedule

After seven rounds, every one has played each other and also, has had
bye. Repeat the pairings since you need all of them to play each othe
twice.
