spoof email?

i got this email but their own outlook express blocked it
as an unsafe attachment

so is it spoof or do microsoft send unsafe attachments
of course it is impossible to contact them anyway through
their site

Its a spoof and a well known one at that. I think its actually mentioned on
the website. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the email system was
planned back in the days when security on the internet wasn't needed its
impossible for any company to prevent their name being forged in emails.

Microsoft never ever send patches out via unsolicited email. Whenever you
get something like this, it isn't legitimate and should be deleted without
any further ceremony.

Further, I don't think *any* company sends out patches in this manner, so if
you get one the next month from someone else delete that too. The best place
to get patches is from the program author's website. For Microsoft's
operating systems that would be http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
