My computer will spontaneously shut down without warning.
I thought it may be the fan but it will still be running.
Then when I try to turn off the computer and reboot, it
goes half way on the start-up window and stalls. I have to
turn it off at the power switch again. I have only been
able to reboot if I use the 'last quality
configurations'on start-up. Thanks for any help.

the event viewer only gives two citations, though each
several times:
"error- serial- while validating that \Device\Serial0 was
really a serial port, the contentsof the devisor latch
register was identicle to the interupt enable and the
receive registers. The device is assumed to not be a
serial port and will be deleated."

and

"warning- i8042prt - with various messages about not being
able to set the keyboard,lights,etc."

I don't see why this would shut down the computer, do you
think if the internal fan is not working right it would do
this? Appreciate the help.
