spliting database error messages

When I attempt to split a database I get the following two errors which I
hope someone can tell me how to fix.

First error is "Subscript out of range" and the second is "Invalid procedure
call or argument".

I've heard of those error messages happening when using the wizard to do the
splitting. Since it's very easy to split manually, it's probably better to
go that route rather than trying to get to the root cause of the errors.
