I have Microsoft Works 8 which has a spelling & grammer tool. I do not have
this option in Outlook Express 6. How do I get this option into Outlook
Express 6? My spelling is awful.
Thanks,
Marsha

The Spelling command is not available in Outlook Express 6.0
after you install Works 8.0

Hello, This is a link to a site that has a free standing OE spell checker,
no charge.
Hope this is of some use.

Thanks for the information. I think I will just keep a dictionary handy.

There ARE advantages to an internal spell checker.

Although not perfect by any means, they can be programmed
with words they didn't come with, and-- as a writer-- I can
tell you I find my spell checkers indispensable.

Good luck!

Outlook Express has never had spell-checking capabilities of its
own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of other Microsoft
applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_
(which includes Word, not the regular Works). There are also some
3rd-party shareware/freeware solutions available at any of the many
shareware sites on the Internet Spell Magic seems well thought-of,
though I haven't tried it myself:

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever come with a
Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the spell checker that comes
with Microsoft Word, (or another Microsoft Office program) if you have it
installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't have a spell
checker that will work with Outlook Express. However there are several
downloadable freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience with any of
these, I'll let someone else recommend one. Or do a Google search.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is* installed, try the
instructions at http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm
