I am attempting to spellcheck a cell in Excel 2000. I am
getting an error message that the Formula is too long when
I try spellchecking the whole worksheet. There are only
1003 characters in the cell and it is supposed to be able
to hold 1024. When I highlight the text in the cell, I
get the message that the text is too long. What is the
limit of characters for spellchecking?

In my testing, xl2002 burped at text longer than 911 characters.

(911 before and after worked ok.)

And I think it has more to do with the length after the correction.

(and a cell in xl can hold 32767 characters--you can see all of them in the
formula bar or if you add alt-enters in the cell, you can lots more than 1024
characters.)
