The only way to do that is to cut it from the subject line>paste it to the
message body and hit F7, then cut and paste it back to subject line.

Not in Windows Mail.
Install Windows Live Mail. It will spell-check Subject column. All you need
to do is to click ABC button.

I knew about this workaround but wondered if Id missed a trick or a bit of freeware
