Am I correct in saying that when the default language is set to
English(Canadian) one can type 'color' or 'colour' without the speller
complaining even in the same document. If so, why has MS done this? Some
Canadians do use US spelling, but surely one wants to be consistent. I have
had to set my default to English(UK)

Hi Bernard

You are correct. The same thing happens with words like "organization". The
spell checker will accept both "organization" and "organisation" in UK,
Canadian and Australian English. But it rejects "organisation" in US
English.

Hope this helps.

A belated thanks. I think I will use Autocorrect with common "ize" words. I
do no know how to delete words Word's dictionary - it was so easy to do in
WordPerfect!

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/ExcludeWordFromDic.htm. Although you'd
have to enter quite a lot of words, it would still be easier than creating
AutoCorrect entries for each one.
