When I was running 98 and Publisher 97 (bundled with HP
printer) I had spelling check working on Outlook Express
6. Now on my new PC I have XP and the same Publisher 97
but no spelling check function, even tho I do have the
spelling tab.

Hi, Joseph,

XP needs MS-Word for Windows installed, before spell checker will work in
Outlook Express.
OR
You can download a free spell checker from the following address:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2952.html

Just pick a download site such as Planet mirror or Majorgeeks.
Download it into a local folder and then using Start, Run,
type in the location to install it, then Reboot.

This is a good checker made to run in the XP version of Outlook Express

Good Luck,
Jerry

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at
