Spell checking would be a function of a word processing application,
not the operating system. What specific application did you use to
create the document? If you used Vista's built-in and very rudimentary
WordPad, there is no spell check capability.

Spell check is a function of the software you are using to create the
document, not Vista.

Yes, that is what I used the word processing (Wordpad - Rich text)
application that came with the computer. So is there a way to upgrade the one
that came with the computer or do I have to purchase a totally new software
inorder to run spell check.

No version of Windows has ever included a spell checking function.
Such a function is provided by an application, not the operating
system.

If your word processing application doesn't have this functionality,
you may be able to find a third-party program that can add it.

May I suggest a piece of software I have used for years:

Spell Catcher Plus.

This application spell checks nearly all Windows programs I've used. It
has a lot of other handy features as well which I use every day.

Go to:

They haven't officially released their Vista version I think, but
provide a interim update. It has worked so well I haven't checked
lately, so their Vista version may be ready by now.

windows maill
there is a pop up window telling me that the spell check is no longer

This is from Windows Mail Help:

Before you can check the spelling in a message, you must select the language
you want to use.

Click to open Windows Mail.

Click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.

Under Language, in the drop-down list, click the language you want to use
(English, French, German, or Spanish).

Click Apply, and then click OK.
Note
Although English is displayed as the default language, you must select it if
you want to use it.
