Spell Check

I would like to force my writing to follow a strict style guide. For
instance, I would like to use the Merriam-Webster dictionary as the spelling
reference. If there are spelling variations then I would like the first entry
to be used and all others considered a misspelling; for example, I would like
"canceled" to be acceptable, but "cancelled" not.

Is there a way to have Word's spell check follow these rules?

Hi Jeff,

Sorry, there isn't any rule-based way to do what you want. Each time
you find a word that the built-in main dictionary accepts but you
consider incorrect, you'd have to manually add it to your exclusion
dictionary, as described at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/ExcludeWordFromDic.htm.
