Spell Check on Password protected Documents

I am trying to find a function that enables you to run a spell check on a
password-protected form/document.

The document has fields in it to enable users to type their information in
without compromising the rest of the documents structure - unfortunately, not
everyone has a dictionary for a brain and the spell check function is not
available with the form password protected.

In 97 you could do this by the options tab under the file save tab, but I
cannot find this option in Word 2002. Can anyone PLEASE help me with this
issue?

Is there anyway to do this on existing documents? This appears to work only
on new documents.

I suppose it is pointless to ask if there is an easier way to do this?
