Ok, I realise that OE has no spell checker etc but will
installing my old "Microsoft Works 4 for windows 95" solve
the problem? I know that does have a spell checker.
When I got my last PC with WinME installed, I installed
Works4 (because I was used to it and I liked it) and the
spell checker worked as did the program itself.
I'm not really up to attempting the solutions suggested
using the "run" command anyway so I am wondering if this
would (or should) fix the problem? Or is it
incompatable/too old etc and is this problem just one with
XP?
Thanks for you patience.

Sorry, that spell checker won't work with Outlook Express.

You require MS OFfice installed. If you don't have ms office, use this
patch:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=2952&cat=10A

You dont need to manually extract csapi3t1.dll. The above fix does it all
automatically.

No, this is backwards. The fix you cite will *not* substitute for
having a spell checker from Microsoft Office installed. It will
however, help in some situations where Microsoft Office (or one
of its components) is installed and the spell checker *still*
doesn't work.

Ken,

Uninstall MS Office and check. This fix extracts the spell checker files
itself. (no need for ms office)

And it shouldn't be posted here. I have since removed your link. I didn't
realize this was the same fix from Bob's page.

Kelly, I once told you that it was from majorgeeks site.

Thanks!

My apologies. I misread your message.
