Speed typing single character per cell

P

Penta

I have a Vendor Information Template that requires me to type the details in
one character per cell. This is very laborious as I have to manualy move to
the next cell for the next character. Is there a way of making excel accept
only one character per cell as I type on my normal speed?
Thanks

Penta,

You can change which cell becomes the active cell after pressing enter.
Perhaps that will speed things up...

Tools | Options | Edit (tab) | Move selection after Enter | Direction:

Try selecting "right"

Hi!

There *is* a way, if you want to use it!

Type all of the letters for one record into one cell. (So: if it's
name, put the name in A1, say)

Select A1 and click Data|Text to columns.
When the dialogue box comes up, click the fixed width button an
then<next>. In the next screen give each character a column (
character wide). Finish.

This will write one letter in A1 and the others in B1,C1 etc.

Best do a list of entries and then split them up as a batch.

Good luck!
