Hi,

Dell 2400, XP Home, SP2 Updated, Pentium 4 ( 2.4), 512 Ram tons of
rom left on 'C' drive.

I checked for a News Group on System Mechanic but it picked up mostly
auto mechanics! So, here I am! The Analyses in Iolo's System
Mechanic 6.0 show all tests at the top level - "GOOD" , except
computer speed. I then ran all the apps pertaining to speed and it
still comes up showing that my system has a speed problem.

I updated the latest virus, malware, etc, using Trend Micro, and then
scanned my 'C' drive. Everything OK! There are (3) items in my
MSCONFIG. I clear my temporary Internet files and my History files
religiously. And I defragged using the WIN XP defrag. system Mechanic
shows only 2 percent defragmentation.

Whatever can I do to speed up my beloved, "Big Bertha" ? (short of
using her for a doorstop and buying a bigger, better and faster PC??

Thanks for the great help I've always been getting, except for the few
nasty grouches I get once in a while.

Mike

What is your perception of performance?

What the the so-called "utilities" say does not
matter, what matters is how YOU feel about
system responsiveness.

Have things degraded recently? Did your
machine used to run faster?

If so, what have you installed recently?

What CPU speed is the analysis showing? Is it significantly slower
than 2.4 GHz? Or, IOW, what type of speed is wanted? And for what
purpose, such as high-speed CAD rendering, number-crunching, etc.?
