Specifying the X Axis

I'm sure this is a simple question but I'm having a bit of a mental
block and can't remember how to do this at all!

Basically I have some data I want to make into a chart. It is very
simple in the format of two columns. But, no matter what I do, it
always puts the data that I want on the Y axis on the X axis and the
data I want on the X axis on the Y axis. I have tried changing the
way I specify the field, I have changed the way the data table is laid
out, how do I do it..................?

Whne you use the chart wizard, simply tell it your data is in columns instead of rows, or vice
versa.
