When attempting to access a directory over peer-to-peer network from one
w2k on another w2k using Windows Explorer,
the Windows Explorer shows the shared drives on anothe machine and all the
folders on these drives, but an attempt to open a folder reasult in
"Specified network name is no longer available"

How do I fix it?

There are numerous possible causes for this. One is network card drivers
or configuration, see:

Other possiblities are antivirus software/backup software/personal firewalls
Try Safe Mode with Networking and see if the problem persists.
