I have turned the volume on my speakers all the way up but I can only faintly
hear sound from them. I have tried another pair of speakers and have the
same problem. What is wrong?

Do you have a sound card installed; try reinstalling its driver files.
If your mobo has a built in audio, reinstall its chipset driver files for
Win XP.
Regards!

Highpockets,

Are you aware that there are volume controls separate from the knob on the
speaker itself?

* click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices

* Select the 'Volume' tab > click 'Advanced'

* adjust 'PC Speaker', 'Play Control' & 'Wave/DirectSc' sliders

You'll have to excuse my ingnorance in Win XP for as I am a newbie to this
system and I didn't understand a word you said, sorry!

Maybe you can answer this question and maybe I will be able to understand
it: The fonts on some pages really vary, the page font can be really small,
but if there is a window inside the page the font is exceptionally large. It
only shows a couple of letters, impossible to read. Also the fonts and
screen sizes on the adjustment boxes (sorry I don't know what they are
officially called, hope you get my drift) are really small.

I've gone into the display panel and appearances and was able to adjust the
toolbar and icon sizes and fonts, but that's it.

Do know what the problem is?

Yeah, you're totally unfocussed.

You asked a question about your sound, and now you've changed the
topic.

I think you need to go to your local bookstore and peruse the "...for
Dummies" books that you find in the Computers section.

Yes, I am aware of that. There are no volume controls on the speakers
themselves and I have gone into the advanced section and adjusted all the
volume levels there.....still the same problem.
