SPANISH VERSION

We are a manufacturer of equipment. We purchase Gateway computers with
English version of XP Pro that is used in the operation of the equipment. We
have a customer that would like the computers with the Spanish version of XP
Pro. Can we exchange the English version for the Spanish? Can we buy
computers without operating systems and buy seperate English and Spanish
operating systems to install at time our customer purchases from us? Any help
would be appreciated.

I would think you should talk to Gateway. The OS that comes with it is an
OEM version so MS doesn't get involved in exchanges.

i would think that also. However, I called them first and they can't give me
an answer. That is why I thought I would check with the manufacturer of the
OS software. Any other ideas??

You're actually not talking with Microsoft here. All the posters here are
volunteers. Occasionally someone from MS will post but not as official tech
support. I would suggest then that you call MS directly.

Can't or won't? Sounds to me like they just don't want to deal with
this.

You're not checking with the manufacturer here. This is a peer-to-peer
support group, no MS employees are here. (Once in a very great while
we get a post from a Softie, but it's not to be expected.)

I would look into buying your gear from somebody other than Gateway -
somebody who will work with you on this.

You can certainly buy computers without operating system from many sources,
but as far as I know, Gateway and most other major OEMs won't let you do
this. But it certainly doesn't hurt to call Gateway and ask. If you're a big
enough customer, they might be willing to do something special for you.

You will need to contact Gateway and discuss this special requirement. They
"should" be able to arrange to sell you "empty" PCs (no Windows
pre-installed.) Then, you will need to buy the Spanish versions of XP.
Depending on the number of PCs your client want, you could look at Volume
Licensing. This will allow them the purchase a valid XP license for X number
of PCs, with the option of adding to the count later.
