SPAM from myself

I keep getting spam mail from my own e-mail address. How do these guys use
my e-mail address to send me mail and how can I stop it????

I check the properties details and it shows the mail coming from my e-mail
address. I hate to put my own e-mail address on my spam blocker as I do
send myself e-mail from time to time .

any ideas??

Filter it out using rules that look for specific words. Takes a while to get
a good set of rules. Rolex goes right to deleted items for example.

Jim,

They get your addrss if you use it public, for example in newsgroups, web
sites etc. Use a good bayesian filter to filter spams, the sender address is
not a good field to filter out spam. For posting in newsgroups, many persons
use a modified email address such as name at domain.com. so that robots are
not getting the correct email address but humans wanting to write discover
what to do.

It's the easiest thing in the world to spoof an address. Just look at THIS
message.

Just like I used it to post THIS message. All they do is change the sender
value in the mail program they're using. They get your address from places
like THIS newsgroup, where you'ev included your address in plain text.
Address harvesting robots scan public newsgroups looking for addresses.

You can't. You can only reject such messages.

Then mung your address when you post in public forums. While it won't stop
those that already have your address, it will prevent harvesting from future
posts.
