Spacers

I read somewhere that there were gif's or something that
are designed to force column widths to at least a minimum
size. Is this common practice? Is it a good practice?
If so, where do I fund these little fake images without
having to make them up.

Any thoughts.

You only need to create single 6x6 pixel transparent GIF image. Then you just resize it as needed.
It is the only way to keep a table cell from collapsing or to holding a certain table column width
or row height.

Hi Diana,

Using spacer .gifs is a good method to prevent table cells from collapsing
and generally just keeping columns and rows sized at minimums.

Here's one if you want that is 1 x 1 and 67 bytes:

http://www.timeforweb.com/images/spacer.gif

It is a transparent .gif so you won't see it. .just do a file save
as... and it's yours.

Once you import it into your site... you can then insert into cells..and
size to whatever you need.

Non-breaking space (&nbsp also works. In fact, FP often inserts them on
its own.

The problem with using &nbsp is that is based on a font size and is fine when working a large cell,
but not useful when needing to work with very small cell.
