Space Bar deletes instead of moving the text in Word

When I change a letter in a document and push the space bar it deletes the
next letter instead of moving the text
 
You probably have inadvertently turned on overtype (OVR on status bar). Press
Insert key once or toggle OVR off by clicking OVR twice.

Hope this solves the problem.
