SP4 Stop error

When restarting following the Sp4 update, Windows 2000 pro
will not come up. It stops with a "Stop Error". I
stopped the virus and firewall programs before applying
the update. Had to uninstall the sp4 update to get
windows to come up. Help!! I would really like to keep
Windows current with the SP4 update.
