Running it on a virtual PC, though I do not see any new features (do not
expect a makeover like with SP2), however I have noticed that XP crashes
during every boot, makes a dump and reboots. This happens 3-4 times and
then it is up and running.
MS analyze says it is due to a device driver, so I hope MS knows which one
mismatches with VirtualPC emulated hardware.
SP3 will overwhelmingly (90%+) be a compilation of all the updates,
security patches and hotfixes released through Microsoft Update since
SP2. It will have a few other things on it too - a Google search on
"Windows XP SP3 contents" will likely fill in the details for you.
Even if you have been getting all the critical MS updates right along, I
think the CD is a good idea to get - if you must reinstall, for example,
you bring your computer back up-to-date with SP3 in one shot.
