I am trying to figure out if the defragmentation tool in SP3 has
changed? or why it hangs and doesn't not defrag my hard drive?

thanks

Use JKDefrag instead of the XP defrag util. It does a far better job
and ought not hang.

Well SP3 hasn't stopped defrag from working on my computer. As for "hangs",
you might want to describe what exactly happens, when and how. Any error
messages in the event log?

More information is needed to dianose why it hangs!

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and
click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents
Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it
is more informative.

Hope this helps.

My guess is you have very limited freespace with which defrag uses for
defragmentation. And, appears hung.

Hypocrisy. Big SUV, filament lights on all night. You think your neighbor
should be changiing to compact fluorescent light bulbs and driving the
hybrid.

Dave

SP3 is major download so there will be a lot to shift around immediately
after the download.

It hangs.

By hanging-- no activity Nothing for over 30 minutes.
I can't closed the program. CTRL-ALT-Del won't work.
