SP3 and Outlook 2002

I am using Outlook 2002 with Word as my email editor on a machine running XP
Pro with Office XP. I have not installed the SP3 update as I have been
reading in this newsgroup that it seems to be generating a security access
message in Outlook. I have no other Outlook add-ins installed. My question
is, has anyone installed the SP3 update on Outlook 2002 using Word as their
email editor and NOT gotten the security pop-up? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will give it a shot and post my results here.

Yes, that's what my beta machine was - no addins for outlook or word so no
security prompt.

The list of known applications causing problems is listed at
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002sp3.htm#problems - we'll update it as
we learn of others.

Downloaded and installed SP3 with no problems. No security prompts using
Word 2002 as my email editor.

You can update it to add Palm's Hotsync v4.1.0 which came with my Zire 71
PDA at Christmas time. When I try to sync to OL2002 in Corporate (MAPI)
mode, it gives me the stupid dialog box whereas SP2 did not.

Actually, I believe that Palm's Hotsync doesn't interact with Outlook at
all - at least it never used to. You need a separate add-on conduit,
such as Chapura PocketMirror or IntelliSync. I had PocketMirror 3.1.2,
and was hanging several times during each hotsync with the dialog box
once I upgraded Outlook to SP3. Upgrading to 3.1.6 fixed that.

Thanks, Jay. My Christmas Zire 71 came with PocketMirror 3.1.3 and going to
3.1.6 indeed fixed it!
