When I attempt to download IE 7 I discovered that sp2 via the windows update
had been canceled during the windows updates down loads. How do you advise?

Also the last windows update I attempted to do on my WinXP computer crashed
out the system and I had to perform a complete format, because each time I
would reboot it would go through a continued reboot once it reach the Windwos
logo screen. Could there had been a fix for this infinite loop, so that I
would not have to reformat the harddrive

Thanks,

Ken

You need to clarify what you mean here. What is the connection between SP2
and IE7? What was cancelled?

There might be a way to fix it. It depends on the specifics of the
situation. As one example did you try a repair install rather than a clean
install? A repair install will keep installed programs and settings.

Next time you run into a problem like this post a question here.

There is some good insurance you can set up to be able to quickly recover to
a working state. Get a drive imaging program such as Acronis True Image.
Use it to save a compressed image of the drive to external media such as a
USB connected external hard drive. Then if disaster strikes restore the
image which is a quick process. Image daily or on a schedule that matches
how much change your system experiences on a regular basis, so you're never
without a current backup.
