I installed SP2 on an xpHome computer which is on a peer-to-peer network
consisting of 6 computers. Internet service is via cable modem to Linksys
Router to all computers. Computers receive an IP address from the DHCP
server on the Router. Each computer in the workgroup has Norton Internet
Security 2004 running with the firewall correctly enabled.
I had heard that SP2 may cause problems but I installed on this system
because it's least used in our office. I utilized about 2 weeks of email
tech support from Microsoft but because of the inherent slowness (and
frustration) of email support I decided to uninstall SP2.
I had lost connectivity with the rest of my office computers after
installing SP2. I found it odd that tech support had no real good
straightforward help. I'm bummed about this. I did find the following link
to be similar to my situation:
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Computer_does_not_work_properly_with_Service_Pack_2.
I will continue to read in this newsgroup for advice and clear solutions.
