SP2 stalls on boot up.

I tried to reinstall XP pro on my desktop (Microm Millenia P4 2.2). The
installation of XP was nearly 3 years old and was sporadicly getting very
slow. XP (preservice packs) installs quickly and without problems.
Installation of SP2 seems to go smoothly but if I load any further updates
or load Norton Internet security, the machine stalls on bootong up. Removing
SP2 in safe mode revives the machine. Beta testing other machines I had no
such problems. Similar installation on a Compaq with a P111 had no problems.
Currently there is no rush as I restored a disk image(which has SP2) and
the machine is currently running well. Any idea as to hat caused the feeze
on bootup? One month ago I upgraded the video card to a NVidia 5200 AGP card
and replaced a soundblaster live card with an Audiology 2 card. Could there
be problem with the drivers?

There's quite a list of those,if the mfg web site doesnt have a SP2 update
it may not be needed,in this case microsoft says, uninstall, then reinstall
with
SP2.

I tried this with same freezes.
