SP2 restore point

T

TOM

We looked in the Help/Support/Restore and notice that the
Restore point was August 31, 2004 with notation: Installed
WinXP SP2 (the date we actually installed SP2). What we
want to know is - is this Restore Point the RESTORE point
before the SP2 was installed, or is it the Restore Point
after the installation of SP2? And if we ever had to
Restore our notebook to a time PRIOR to the installation
of SP2 (go back to point prior to loading SP2), would we
have to look for a RESTORE point prior to the RESTORE
point of August 31, 2004?
Thanks for any help.

This is the restore point to bring you back to a time prior to when SP2 was
installed.

As to your "If you EVER had to restore to a time prior to SP2
installation..." you need to realize, as new restore points are created,
older points are deleted based on allocated space on a first in first out
basis. At some point, that restore point is going to be gone. Assuming you
elected to save your previous setup, SP2 should be listed in Add/Remove
Programs in Control Panel, listed as "Windows XP Service Pack 2."

Should you ever need to go back and the restore point as specified is no
longer available, you can uninstall Service Pack 2 using Add/Remove
Programs.
