SP2 problem

This stupid SP2 program refuses to allow me to install any programs from
disc. I bought a Tax program today and the darn thing refuses to install. I
always get the same message windows cannot find setup exe.
Perhaps my best bet will be to uninstall SP2 and be done with it. I am at
wits end trying to figure out this problem. My son who is a systems
administrator cannot even get windows to install any of my programs from
disc. I have tried different drives and always get the same thing cannot find
setup.exe.
Anyone else ever have this problem if so what is the fix? Please help

I think what is happening that it is looking for another installer. For
example I have had systems that when you open my documents - the MS Money
installer starts. Now not having the actual files to install, it says a
very similar message about not finding files. The only solution I have
found that works is formatting the driver. However if this situation was
to happen again, I would try reinstalling MS Money and then uninstalling
it. In your case it may not be MS Money but another program. Is there
any further information about the error to assist in tracking down what
the problem is?

That is sometimes caused by having too many files called "setup.exe" in your
path. If you download programs called setup.exe you should rename them to
whatever he program is .exe as: xxxsetup.exe
The windows doesn't know what setup program to run or the wrong one is
starting before the right one.
