When I installed SP2 on my XP Pro computer I ran into the following problem:
I can not right click on a folder and get a context menu. When I right click
a folder the system seems to hang for a bit and then the desktop refreshes
itself and many of the icons that were running in the tray by the clock are
closed down. I never get the context menu. If I press the ALT/Control/DEL
keys the folder I was trying to right click is listed as not responding.
All other hardware and software seem to be fine...but I lost the ability to
right click on a folderand get the context menu... I had a full image back up
before I installed SP2 and was able to get system restored... I tried
installing SP2 again but I had the same exact problem...

Open your Control Panel, click on the Mouse icon and
under the Buttons tab, make sure the Right Button shows
"Right-click (default)", then click Apply.

If you continue to have a problem, uninstall your current
mouse drivers/software and download/install the latest
for your mouse. If you happen to have a Microsoft mouse,
the new IntelliPoint 5.2 software was recently released:

Thank you for the quick responce....however I do not think that will solve
the problem...I am able to right click "My Computer" and get a context menu.
I use Logitech mouseware and I did download and install the latest version
just to be sure...I only have the problem when I try to right click a folder
file...The first time I right clicked a folder after the installation of SP2
I got a Dr. Watson Debugger pop up and after that I would get the "Not
Responding" in Task Manger window...I have all the latest updates for Win XP
and Office 2003 prior to installing SP2...I am leary of going through this a
third time...I wonder if the full SP2 download I have is different then
waiting for the automatic update that will be out soon...I have the full SP2
file now burned to CD..computer works like a charm without SP2
installed...lucky I had a full image backup before trying SP2

Problem has been solved by removing Dr. DivX Pro from the computer... DivX
folks are working on a patch to correct the problem...

I've tried creating a new post, but can't; so I'm replying to this one . . .

I've installed SP2 and lost icon associations: all MS products (Word, Excel,
Publisher, etc.) display a 'generic' icon (e.g., on the desktop, in Windows
Explorer, as e-mail attachments), Adobe Reader 6.0 does likewise . . . Any
hints? Do I have to reinstall everything after installing SP2?

I encountered the same difficulty upon installing SP2 in XP Pro.( system
hangup when right-clicking executable files such as .exe, .jpg, .txt, .ppt
etc).
I noticed in Task Manager that Dr Watson was running in "Processes" and was
appeared hung up. When I ended the drwtsn.exe program, the desktop reset
itself ( most likely to a prior configuration as the desktop icons were
rearranged) and I was able to continue working. This has worked for me for
about 3 months now. I tried removing drwtsn.exe from my system32 folder but
it is protected and reinstalls itself immediately. I tried moving
drwtsn32.exe out of System32 and into a separate folder on my desktop and
this works periodically. I get control of Right Click again but the hangup
always returns spontaneously some time later.
It really is a pain to be without the right click function!
My question is "How do I permanently delete drwtsn.exe from System32 ?"
